Abstract:
Ensuring industrial process safety is critical for protecting personnel, equipment, and the\r\nenvironment. The integration of smart sensor technologies into industrial systems has emerged as a\r\ntransformative approach to proactively monitor processes, detect anomalies, and prevent accidents.\r\nSmart sensors provide real-time data, predictive insights, and automated alerts, enabling faster\r\nresponse and informed decision-making. This paper explores the deployment of smart sensors in\r\nindustrial settings to enhance process safety, highlighting sensor types, data analytics integration, and\r\nimplementation strategies. It reviews literature on sensor-based monitoring, risk assessment, and\r\npredictive maintenance, and presents case studies demonstrating reductions in incidents and\r\noperational hazards. The study concludes that strategic deployment of smart sensors significantly\r\nimproves industrial safety, reduces operational risks, and supports regulatory compliance, while\r\nidentifying challenges related to cost, data management, and cybersecurity.
